A friend of mine is having a dinner party for the last episode of Downton Abbey series two, which airs in America a week from today. Yay! Delightful!

But.

Period costume is strongly encouraged. With only one (busy) week in which to find something, on a miniscule budget, what on earth can I wear?

This looks pretty neat. I read one of the books in the Greenknowe series (which this is based on) as an adult and found it a bit dull, but the trailer makes the film look anything but!

Well, the Emmy nominations are disappointing yet again - no recognition for a single actor in any of the shows I follow, except Neil Patrick Harris's 4th nom. This is why I don't actually care about the Emmys.

One nice thing, though: in the category of Best Supporting Actor in a TV Movie/Miniseries, a nod for Michael Gambon in Emma! He deserves ( Read more... )

Am I the only one who feels unreasonably pleased about accomplishing basic businessy tasks? Today I made an appointment with a new dentist and arranged with the Toyota dealership to take care of my killer floor mats.
